Val PurvisIn memory of long time HDTC member Val Purvis.
Val was born in Syracuse, New York, on November 19, 1953. Her name was Valerie Joy Eliot. She grew up in the snow country and learned how to ski and loved it. She spent countless hours at dance lessons, and Girl Scouts taught her a lot of things about crafts and art. She was very influential about art, music, reading, and education. Val graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in library science, because the family moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida, for seven years while America put Neil Armstrong on the moon. Her husband was one of the engineers that helped do that. She was interested in space exploration ever since. She always loved horses and walked to visit them in both the neighborhoods we lived in. She even owned a horse in the greater Cincinnati area for a while, but mostly she trained dogs, and she owned two dogs at all times. |
