Kathryn I. Smith, age 82 of Hamilton, OH, passed away at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 26, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born on May 25, 1942 to William C. Ignatius and Dorothy (Kiefel) Ignatius in Cincinnati, OH. Kathy was a 1960 graduate of Talawanda High School. On April 8, 1961, she married the love of her life, Jay Andrew Smith, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2017. Kathy worked in King Library at Miami University for many years, retiring in 2000. An avid dog lover, Kathy was a long-time member of the Hamilton Dog Training Club. She enjoyed attending and participating in many dog shows and became an instructor for the club. She loved baking cookies and brownies, the Cincinnati Reds, and working all kinds of puzzles, especially Sudoku. Kathy is survived by her children, Julie (Jon) Schlichter, Craig (Becky) Smith, and Doug (Lynn) Smith; her grandchildren, Heidi (Zakery) Condo, Hannah (Tyler) Metzger, Abby Smith, Andrew (Tori) Schlichter, Mackenzie and Tyler Vizedom; two great grandchildren and another on the way. She is also survived by a sister, Sharon Page, of Gladstone, Oregon; and a brother, William C. (Bucky) Ignatius III of Cincinnati, Ohio.
